Dogs appreciate having their own sanctuary. Therefore, surprising them with a kennel could be one of the greatest gifts. The kennel offers both comfort and safety for your canine friend. Typically, these kennels come with a hefty price tag in retail outlets. A viable alternative is crafting your dog’s kennel through welding. For further details on welding techniques, please read this info.
Layout the Kennel
Plan the outline of your kennel, taking into account the size of your dog and how much space it needs inside the kennel to stay comfortably.
The Framework
Collect square tubings and angle irons, which are thick enough to stay strong. Also, prepare thick flat bars for providing support to your kennel. Customize all of these in the size you want by cutting them using an angle grinder with metal blades.
Grind the end of each of the angle irons and the bar to fit properly. Use a right-angle clamp to hold two angle iron together and weld the ends together. Make a square base using four angle irons, and after the base framework is completed, put two bars perpendicularly on both sides across it to make it a quadrilateral. Keep another square-shaped framework of the angle irons for the roof on the top of the bars. Work out all the angles of the kennel and attach them by welding. (Remember to wear leather gloves and eye protection before starting to weld).
Then start with welding more bars around the kennel parallelly so that later on, the wood and the extended metal can come against them, and the house will be strong.
After all the welding is complete, take the grinder and grind the surface to remove the welds for a smoother finish.
The Door
Take the bars and make a relatively small-sized quadrilateral for the door. In this framework, a lot of welding is to be done for a strong and better construction. Work out the measurements for the hinges by drilling in the frameworks of the doors. Measure the position for the hinges to be set on the kennel and drill it to set the door perfectly.
Metal Extension
Work out the size of your door and cut the metal extension using the angle grinder. Attach the corner first with the MIG welder and then accordingly weld all the way across. Cut more expanded metal and weld them in the upper layer of the sidebars across the kennel. Always cut the extended metals keeping the diamond shape in the same direction and also while welding, tuck all the parts of the metal with the bars to make it stronger.
Paint
Apply prime all over the framework and then use a paint spray to make the kennel colorful. Colour the wood pieces separately using wood paints.
The Woodwork
Cut out the pieces of wood you require to cover up the lower layer of the kennel underneath the metal extensions. Mark out the position for the woods to settle in and use screws to fit them inside.
Bottom
Cut a piece of a soft, comfy carpet according to the space of your kennel and place it inside your kennel.
After completing all of the work, the kennel is all set for your lovely dog. Save money and work hard by making this kennel and give your dog the best surprise ever.
